Delnoro

Delnoro is the fictional setting for a series of stories created by Thomas Gale. Copyright 1995-2003.

INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS DELNORO?

Delnoro is the title for a series of stories created by Thomas Gale. Delnoro also happens to be the name of a mountain village which is central to many of the stories. Major settings and characters of these stories will be briefly outlined in a section called Profiles.

All of the Delnoro stories are based upon a fictional history. For example, in this altered timeline, Asian nations had taken a more prominent role in colonizing the American continents during the 15th through 18th century. Also, by the mid-twentieth century, the United States had never expanded its borders much beyond the Mississippi. Most of the story is set in areas near the southern Rocky Mountains. A full outline of my fictional alternative history is in the works too.

RECORD OF PROGRESS

This narrative project has been a work in progress (on and off) since about 1995. In the past I've been proceeding at the pace of a salted snail, but these days my progress has been more akin to an eager wriggling tadpole. By creating these web pages I hope to gain an organized and disciplined view of my project. I've restricted access to the sloppy details until something is at a stage for public release.

STORYLINES

Within the world of Delnoro, I plan to create more peripheral stories stories such as the prelude "Along the Way", but the major story line is about the life of a woman named Ta'che. Her story will come in three parts: "early-life", "mid-life", and "late-life". Each part will contain twelve chapters. Here are introductory summaries of the three parts:

Part 1: Ta'che's Revelation. Chapters 1-12
Ta'che, a wild alienated teenager, flees from her private college. She finds herself on a dangerous journey through a landscape in the midst of an escalating war. While she searches for safety, she is both helped and hindered by a series of various strangers. A converging side-story follows the troubles of her father in the small mountain village of Delnoro.

Part 2: Ta'che's Revolution. Chapters 13-24
Ta'che, an aggressive middle-aged woman, forms a passionate ambition to change the world for the better, but she beholds the horrors of a civil war and struggles to adjust her ideals as she finds herself becoming something she hates.

Part 3: Ta'che's Restitution. Chapters 25-36
Ta'che, as a disillusioned old woman, finally gives up on her quest for righteousness, and finds her peace by engaging with children, and becoming a schoolteacher. Each of the children have their own incidental and intertwined stories that present a purpose of life to Ta'che.
